Product Description The capacious DeLonghi Metropolis blender is a powerful and handsome machine suited to crushing ice and blending drinks, smoothies, and soups. From DeLonghi's new Metropolis collection, this bar blender combines a commercial, matte graphite finish with the boldness of silvery bullet knobs, capturing the Art Deco style of the 1920s.
Amazon.com Review The capacious DeLonghi Metropolis blender is a powerful and handsome machine suited to crushing ice and blending drinks, smoothies, and soups. Set on a heavy flared base with rubber grip feet for stability, the blender offers three powerful speeds with an optional pulse function, and a built-in ice crushing function that alternates between on and off for added efficiency. The dial control and speed gauge are easy to use--though the grip is made of a surprisingly light plastic for the heft of the rest of the machine. The Metropolis' jar is formed from heavy-duty glass, marked with metric and imperial measurements, and fitted with a smooth arched handle. Designed to resist scratching and discoloration, the jar holds up to 50 ounces at a time. It stands stably on the countertop, pours smoothly from its tapered spout, and drops into place on the base-no need for twisting it into position. A clever feeding tray nestles into the jar's removable lid, allowing for the tidy addition of ingredients while the machine is running. For extra safety during operation, the blender includes a dual shut-off system that cuts power if the jar or lid is removed or is not in the correct position. The stainless steel blade assembly removes to simplify cleanup, and the base wipes down easily. A combination of matte charcoal, black, and chrome-colored accents, the blender has a stylish appearance suited to the modern kitchen or bar. It stands approximately 17 inches high with the feeder tray in place and carries a one-year warranty from DeLonghi. --Emily Bedard

DeLonghi blender February 14, 2007 Stephen R. Dulaney (Vacaville, Calif. USA) This is a terribley designed piece of equipment. First, very difficult to clean the carafe. The base is difficult to remove and near impossible to replace without leakage. Secondly, the dual cutoff system is very poorly designed. More often than not, the blender would not function. If the lid to the carafe was not placed on the carafe just so, the blender would not operate. This became such a problem, that after less than 30 uses, this blender made it's way to the garbage. Although an attractive piece of kitchen equipment, it's deficiences made it entirely worthless.
bad design, poor customer service January 21, 2006 M. Sakamoto (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We got this blender in August 2005. You need to use a "measuring cup" to clean the blade. The measuring cup is made of plastic. It is not strong enough to do the job, and broke after a few uses. We ordered a replacement part in August 2005 and it has not arrived yet as of January 2006! They charged our credit card at the time of the order. The customer service lady said, "Since it is a new product, they don't have parts ready yet. It will be ready at the end of Feburuary." We need to wait to clean our blender for half a year? At this point, I guess we have no other choice. We hope it won't break again if we could get the part in March. I have to say the blender works fine, but do you want to buy a blender you can't really clean for 6 months? With such poor product support, I don't recommend this company's products, especially this blender.
Poor construction October 16, 2005 V. Treat Had blender for four months and the cap which you use to get the bottom opened broke, it is plastic and now i have no way to remove the bottom to clean it. Otherwise great blender.
Great power - bad design June 3, 2005 L Ritter 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This blender has great power. It crushed the whole pitcher of ice in just a few seconds. However, for cleaning purposes, the measuring cup in the top is used to remove the blades from the bottom of the pitcher. We thought we had the blades put securely back in, and after a minute or so of blending, the pitcher started leaking because the blades had been knocked loose during the process. Other than that, it worked great.
