Amazon.com Review This compact two-in-one BlenderChef may be a life-changing appliance, as both a blender and a food processor fit alternately onto the base of this powerful, 400-watt machine. The wide-mouth glass blender jar holds 40 ounces and comes with an excellent SureRest base that keeps it from tipping over on the countertop. The blender has 12 speeds (from "stir" at the low end all the way up to "liquefy"), including a great "icebreaker/pulse" button--stubborn ice cubes beware! (Check the enclosed booklet for tips on ice crushing, because even a champion blender requires some human assistance.) After you've whipped up a slushy drink or pureed carrot soup to a perfect smoothness, it's easy to switch over to the processor attachment (which snaps just as easily in place as the blender), feed a few vegetables through the chute, and have beautiful fixings for salad or stir-fry in minutes. The work bowl for the food processor has a 3-cup capacity with a special feed tube in the lid for adding oil or other liquids without muss or fuss. The base of the machine wipes down easily; though hand washing is recommended for the blades, the glass jar and plastic processor pieces are dishwasher-safe. --Erin Brown

Out-grown this combo November 8, 2008 L. T. Ambrose (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida United States) I received this as a wedding present in 2005, and was not really using the blender and FP attachment until recently. I've changed my diet and have been using these more than my pots and pans. Because of the small FP, I have decided to upgrade to something bigger. The only problem I have with this machine is to get things smoother you have to run it longer, and it is loud (although, I don't have anything else to compare the noise to.) If you're looking for a decent blender w/ a FP attachment, then go with this. It served its purpose for a newlywed for 3-1/2 years before it needed to be changed. The only thing I've replaced on it is the rubber ring that cushions the glass jar to the base for the blender. My local hardware store carried an Oster rubber ring attachment that worked fine. The "plunger" piece went missing in action (don't know what happened to it) but I was able to use the FP by just putting a towel over the chute and holding it in place when processing. Good combo for minimum to moderate usage.
Great job blending! June 15, 2007 R. Pearson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This blender/food processor generally does a really great job. It has plenty of power to grind up ice and makes wonderful drinks. My kids use it to make smoothies. As for pouring stuff out of the container, I do not seem to have the same trouble as the other person who commented that their drinks ran down the edge when they poured. I have never had this problem. Although I haven't used the food processor part all that much (I find a knife pretty easy to use and simpler to clean) I did give it a spin since it came with the blender. Seems to work well enough. All in all, this blender was a solid replacement for my old blender when that one died. Definitely worth the money.
It does it's job...minor issues though... April 14, 2007 Jack E. Bass 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
A nice blender/processor combo. Works great, fit and finish are nice, the pitcher DOES NOT pour well since the lip of the jar is badly designed. Expect to find your blended drinks running down the side of the jar w/ every pour. Otherwise it works well.
Close to 5 stars January 11, 2007 Bunson Honeydew (White Plains, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I needed a spare blender and this one looked interesting because of the food processor attachment. The food processor is best for small chopping/mixing jobs; it obviously cannot compete with my wife's Kitchen Aid 11 cup heavy duty processor. But it is fine for vegetables and other prep work. The blender only gets 4 stars because it is not as powerful as my Cuisinart blender, and the base is made with cheaper plastic. The good news is the blades are sharp (ouch-I nicked my thumb while cleaning it). It is plently powerful for making smoothies with yogurt and semi-frozen fruit. However if space in your kitchen is at a premium, this is a great bang for the buck. You get a mini-processor and blender for one price. Because most of us are wannabe chefs, this will meet or exceed most of our needs. Buy it and you won't be disappointed.
Extremely Disappointed October 6, 2006 Matt Tucker (Boston, MA United States) I purchased this blender just over a year ago and it is already broken. The motor has malfunctioned in a severe way. If I hold the base upside-down, the motor will run but sparks fly out of it. Due to the inability to blend upside-down and the fear of sparks, this appliance is now useless junk. I contacted Hamilton Beach to try and get some satisfaction but they claimed it must have broke because I did not know how to use it. How hard would it have been to work with me instead of blaming me? Very disappointed in this product and I will now look for a new blender that is actually a quality product.
